HyperCD® is an exciting new hybrid CD technology that delivers high quality video and CD-quality audio via the Web without any of the quality loss of streaming or the lengthy download times associated with the Web at large. The HyperCD installer has been designed to load in all of the software you will need to experience instant video playback when you arrive at the special HyperCD Web site. While we have gone to great lengths to ensure that this disc and the HyperCD installer will work with your computer, if you are still having trouble with the video or audio playback from your HyperCD, please follow the troubleshooting tips below or drop us an e-mail at : tech@broadbridge.net

Systems slower than 150 MHz will be able to use HyperCD, however these system may not have optimum video performance. If you are running this disc on a non-Pentium based machine running at a CPU speed below 150 MHz or are running Windows 3.1, you may be unable to experience the included video and audio tracks. If you have questions about whether or not your computer fits these descriptions, please consult your computer's documentation.

MacOS® PowerPC Hardware and Software Requirements - The HyperCD was designed to run on a PowerPC 166 MHz Mac or Mac-compatible running Mac OS System 7.5.3 or later. If you are running it on a lower-end Mac, you may experience a lower frame rate on the video than was designed. To try and offset this problem, see the troubleshooting section below.

This section lists a number of common problems you might encounter during the use of this disc, offers a possible cause for each problem and, if not self-evident, suggests a solution.

Problem: I've installed the software, but my browser is not launching.
Possible Cause:
Your Browser may have been open during install, you have no browser installed on your machine, or you haven't chosen a browser as your default browser.
Fix 1: Close your Browser and relaunch it.If this does not work, click on the Finder and do a Find command to see if you can locate a file called "HyperCD". If you do not find one, rerun the "4. Install HyperCD" installation (see above). If you do find the file, check to make sure it is in the correct "plug-ins" folder. If it is not, drag it to plug-ins folder of the browser you are using.
Fix 2:
Reload the browser software included on this disc and then reinstall the QuickTime 3.0 and HyperCD Installs.
Fix 3: There are several ways to select a default browser. If you are using System 8.x, you can do a Find to locate your Internet Config utility, open it and change the browser information in the Helpers section of your Internet Preferences window. If this does not work, open your browser and locate a local HTML file and open that file. If neither of these work, contact your ISP and make sure you have the most recent browser software they are supporting.

Problem: I've installed the software, my browser is launching, but I'm not connecting to the Web.
Possible Cause:
You may be having a problem with your dial-up numbers or have not entered the correct information for your ISP.
Fix:Contact your ISP to verify that your PPP and TCP/IP settings are correct.

Problem:I'm experiencing a plug-in missing error when I arrive at the website.
Possible Cause:
Your Browser did not recognize the plug-in on start-up or the plug-in was placed in the plug-ins folder of the wrong browser.
Fix 1:

  1. First click the "Reload" button on your browser to see if that corrects the problem.
  2. If it does not, close your Browser and relaunch it.
  3. If this does not work, click on the Finder and do a Find command to see if you can locate a file called "HyperCD".
  4. If you do not find one, rerun the "4. Install HyperCD" installation (see above).
  5. If you do find the file, check to make sure it is in the correct "plug-ins" folder. If it is not, drag it to plug-ins folder of the browser you are using.

Fix 2: Verify that you are using the browser included on this disc (Netscape 4.04 or Internet Explorer 4.01) or higher by single clicking on the browser's icon and choosing "About Netscape/IE" in the apple menu at the upper left corner of your screen. If you are not, reload the ISP software on this disc and then reinstall the "HyperCD" software.

Problem: The videos are playing very slow.
Possible Cause:

  2. Pull down the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen to "About This Computer"".
  3. Make sure the memory listed in the "Largest Unused Block" is a least 15 MB.

  5. to "Virtual Memory" in the MEMORY control panel.
  6. If it is, click on your Netscape or Internet Explorer icon once.
  7. Select Get Info under the "File" menu and increase the amount of RAM (memory) in the "Minimum Size" entry box to 12,000 and the "Maximum Size" to 15,000.

Fix 2: If performance of the CD-ROM still seems slow, you may want to enable the faster speed settings on your double-, triple- or quad-speed CD-ROM drive. See the documentation for your CD-ROM drive for details on changing the speed settings.
Fix 3:Adjust the number of color display for you monitor in the monitor control panel. Using more than "Thousands" of color will prevent the video from running smoothly on slower machines and machines with less memory.
